Blogging with Blosxom just couldn't be simpler. Akin to the Sea World claims that all animal tricks are based upon natural behaviour in the wild, Blosxom doesn't attempt to change the way you write. It gets out of your way, leaving you to edit text files in the comfort of your favorite text editor, be it BBEdit, Notepad, Emacs, or Word. No cramped, featureless, browser-based checkboxes here. So fire up that text editor and let's get cracking!A post is just a text file...
Every weblog post is a plain ordinary text file saved under Blosxom's data directory/folder. The only stipulation is that the filename end in.txt (or whatever you may have optionally configured as the file extension); anything else in under that directory is summarily ignored.
Since posts are just files like any other, editing an existing post is simply a matter of re-opening the file in your text editor, making whatever changes you see fit, and re-saving it.
And it goes without saying that deleting a post is accomplished by deleting or renaming (to end in something other than .txt) the appropriate file.
Here's a helpful hint: Save a partially complete draft with a .txt- extension--anything other than .txt or your preferred file extension will do nicely--ensuring Blosxom won't pick it up until you're quite ready, at which time going live is a just a matter of renaming the file.
Format your post...
Posts themselves are rather free-form. The only rule is that the first line becomes the entry's title, so keep it short and sweet. Format the rest to your heart's content using text and garden-variety HTML. Here comes a typical post now:

Save your post...
Save your posts to the Blosxom data directory/folder (or somewhere beneath). It's best to stick to the data directory itself until you've had a chance to read about categorizing and sharing a Blosxom blog. If you've yet to post for the first time, having just finished installing and configuring Blosxom, go ahead and write anything so that you have something to look at.
